A Black Hole and a Milkyway

This project started as an investigation in how ‘primitivism’ is perceived in the domestic and cultural backgrounds. I was curious how to talk about it without a certain superiority, how to emphasise the beauty of a pure shape, texture, smell without loading it with meaning. Experimenting with different techniques, I made several textile pieces that together assemble a ‘cave wall’ - an interactive, optical mural. Spectators are given a selfie stick to place their smartphones and turn them into modern torches. Entering a dark space, everybody is encouraged to play around discovering the pieces on the walls as if they were in a cave. It is a playful seduction to feel the infantile joy by discovering surfaces, colours and traces of information.
